Manuel Russell Mello

New Bedford – Manuel Russell Mello, of South Dartmouth , age 67, died on Friday, May 17, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief period of declining health. He was the beloved widower of Joyce (DeTerra) Mello. He was born in New Bedford, the son Laura (Bernardo) and Manuel B. Mello. He spent all of his life in this area and worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years at Medeiros and Sons Construction in Dartmouth. Mr. Mello proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
His survivors include his 2 children: Kim Schuster and her husband Jeff of Acushnet, and Kevin P. Mello of Kissimmee, Fl; 3 brothers: Leonard Mello of Dartmouth, Paul Mello of Dartmouth and Norman Mello of Fairhaven; as well as 3 loving grandchildren: Keith and Kylie Schuster, and Sabrina Vargas
In accordance with his wishes, Manuel will be cremated. A graveside service will be held at later date and will be private. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
