Anna R. Openshaw

New Bedford – Anna R. Openshaw, age 85 years, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at home surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Openshaw Jr. and former wife of Joseph C. Rebello.
Mrs. Openshaw was born in New Bedford, a daughter of Mary (Rose) Souza and John R. Souza.
Anna was the mother of Joseph J. Rebello and Alda M. Johnson both of New Bedford. She is survived by a sister Helen Souza of Acushnet, three grandchildren: Jillian, Holly and Brice Johnson, all of New Bedford as well as several niece, nephews and cousins from both New Bedford and Illinois.
Mrs. Openshaw lived in this area all of her life and was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Prior to her retirement Anna was employed by South Coast Hospital Group as an executive secretary, by Dr. Harry Matelski’s as a secretary and by Saltmarsh’s.
Anna’s Funeral Mass with her cremains present will be Wednesday, April 3rd at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4256 Acushnet Avenue in New Bedford, at 10:00 A.M. Everyone is invited to meet at the church. Burial of her cremains will be private. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening in the funeral home from 4 – 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements are placed in the care of PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
