Mariana Duarte

New Bedford – Mariana Duarte, aged 69, died March 18, 2013, at her home in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Humberto Duarte. Mariana was the loved mother of Mario J. Duarte and wife Susana, Laudalino Duarte and wife Lidia, Donna DaCosta and husband David, Grace Duarte, Paul Duarte and Elizabeth Duarte all of New Bedford; and the late Rui Duarte. Mrs. Duarte was the sister of Dorvalina Medeiros of New Bedford, Lourdes Grota of North Dartmouth and the late Natalia Paváo formerly of Fall River. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and god-children.
Mrs. Duarte was a daughter of the late Helena (Raposo) Pacheco and the late Jacinto Carvalho Pacheco. She was born in Ajuda da Bretanha, São Miguel Açores, and lived in this area since 1974. Mrs. Duarte worked as a stitcher for Cameo Curtains. Mariana was former member of the St. John the Baptist Church Choir.
Mrs. Duarte’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday, March 22, at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
