New Bedford- Paul S. Rezendes Sr. age 66, passed away on Friday, March 8th at his home surrounded by his family.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Isabel (Tavares), his daughter Heidi Deus, his son Paul "Rez" Rezendes Jr., two grandchildren Justin Deus and Alissa Deus, his brother Dennis, husband of Joyce, of Dartmouth, and two sister in-laws: Linda Rezendes and Debbie Lunquest. Mr. Rezendes is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Rezendes was pre-deceased by his brothers, John S. Rezendes, Jr. and Robert Rezendes, and his brother-in-law James Tavares.
Paul was born in Acushnet and lived most of his life in New Bedford. He was the son of the late John and Katherine (Sylvia) Rezendes. Paul worked for the City of New Bedford as a Heavy Motor Equipment Operator until his retirement. Paul fulfilled his military duty by proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War achieving the rank of SPEC 4. He was a former member of SEYAA, the Washington Club and was a Cub Scout leader.
He was a loving and dedicated person to his family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing paintball with his grandson and watching movies with his granddaughter.
Mr. Rezendes’ visiting hours will be at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford on Monday, March 11th from 4-8 P.M. Family and friends are invited. In accordance with his wishes, Paul will be cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Hawthorn Cancer Center: 537 Faunce Corner Rd. N. Dartmouth, MA 02747.
