Joseph Souza

Joseph Souza, age 77, died Friday, March 8th at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the husband of Gloria O. (Caron) Souza of New Bedford for 56 years. His survivors include: his children Joseph Souza Jr., husband of Laurie, and William Souza both of New Bedford, as well as his siblings Charlie Souza, Susie (Souza); his 5 grandchildren: Tiffany-Ann, Kristine, James, Jay and Jessica, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Souza also has another great-grandchild on the way.
Joseph is predeceased by his son Bruce Souza and several siblings.
He was born in New Bedford, son of Caroline (Perry) and Alfred Souza. Joseph was a Cook for Town & Melody Joy Caterers for 45 years before leaving the company to join his brother, Charlie, in his catering business, Charlie’s Catering, in New Bedford for 10 years until his retirement. Joseph and his wife, Gloria, enjoyed taking dance lessons together. They also enjoyed riding around in their 2009 SS-Impala. Mr. Souza was an avid fisherman.
Mr. Souza’s visiting hours will be Sunday, March 10 at the Perry Funeral Home from 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St in New Bedford. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St. West Bridgewater, Ma 02379.
