Dartmouth- Patricia A. Gata, age 57 passed away Wednesday February 20th at her home in Dartmouth after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Jose Gata of Dartmouth. Patricia was the proud mother of Jeremy Gata husband of Lori of New Bedford, Jason Gata of New Bedford and John Medeiros husband of Betty of Fall River. Mrs. Gata is also survived by her lifelong special friend and cousin Dianne Mitchell of New Bedford, 4 adored grandchildren; Ashley and Jessica Medeiros, Kade Kaminski and Ava Gata, god-daughter Amy Mitchell, several cousins and her friends who she truly loved and who also loved her.
Mrs. Gata was born in New Bedford the daughter of the late Thelma McQueen. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School as well as a graduate of Diman Vocational School of Nursing. Pat was employed as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Northeast Medical Research. She was a devoted Communicant of St. Julie Billiart Church in Dartmouth.
Patricia “Princess Pat” loved life and fought bravely to the very end. She cared more for others than she did herself and touched everyone she met. Her boys and grandchildren were her life; she will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Mrs. Gata will be cremated. A Memorial Mass with her cremains present will be celebrated on Saturday, March 2nd at 12:00 P.M. at St. Julie Billiart Church. Flowers are omitted. Family and friends are invited to attend and are asked to meet directly at the church. Donations may be made in Pat’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
