Antonio Defrias

Boston – Antonio DeFrias, of New Bedford, age 68 years, died February 18th at Brigham and Women's Hospital. He was the loving father of Rosemary DeFrias and Lori Ann DeFrias both of Westport, and Commander Antonio DeFrias of the United States Navy of Virginia Beach, Va. He is also survived by his grandson Patrick Hawes DeFrias, his 2 sisters Leonora Moniz and Maria Santos, 2 brothers Everisto Frias and Adelino DeFrias, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Antonio was the brother of the late Gloria Melo and Alfredo DeFrias.

Mr. DeFrias was born in Vila Franca do Campo, Sao Miguel, Açores son of Maria (Bernardo) and Alfredo DeFrias. He immigrated to New Bedford and has lived in this area since he was 10 years of age. Mr. DeFrias worked as a Loom Foreman at Brittany Dye until his retirement.


Mr. DeFrias’ visiting hours will be Friday from 5 – 7 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Relatives and Friends are invited. In accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
