Maria O. Melo

New Bedford – Maria O. Melo, age 58, passed away on Tuesday, February 5th at home in New Bedford. She was the wife of Liberal Melo. Maria was the loving mother of Joao Miguel Evangelista of New Bedford. Mrs. Melo is also survived by her Mother Ercarnacao Matos, sisters; Milena Rodrigues of Dartmouth, Laura Grillo of Portugal and 3 nieces.

Mrs. Melo was born in Figueira da Foz, Portugal daughter of Encarnacao (Rodrigues) and the late Julio Maria Matos. Mrs. Melo was a home maker. Maria enjoyed spending time with her family and their dogs. She loved decorating, cooking and taking pictures.

Mrs. Melo’s funeral will be Friday February 8, at 9:30 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Cremation to follow. Visiting hours are Thursday from 5-7 P.M. Family and friends are invited.
In lieu of flowers dontations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
