James P. Sylvia, Jr.

New Bedford – James P. Sylvia, Jr., age 89 years, passed away on Saturday, February 2nd at Southeastern Massachusetts Health & Rehab Center. James is survived by 2 children: Janice Miller of East Freetown and Barry J. Sylvia of Florida. He is predeceased by his siblings: George Sylvia, A.P. Sylvia and Shirley Perry. He was the loving grandfather to 5 grandchildren.
Mr. Sylvia was born in New Bedford, son of Mary (Santos) and James P. Sylvia, Sr. He remained in this area his whole life. James worked in the purchasing department at Goodyear Tires for 44 years before his retirement. He was a proud member of the Goodyear Seniors. James loved baseball. He spent a lot of his free time at Clegg Field supporting Little League Baseball as the official scorer.
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated.
