New Bedford--- Evelyn (Ramos) Pereira, 84 of Dartmouth died Monday, January 28, 2013 at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the widow of Francisco A. Pereira Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mary (Ferreira) and Joseph Silva Ramos, she resided in the area all her life. She was a communicant of St. Julie Billiart Parish, Dartmouth. Mrs. Pereira was a homemaker and the mother of 11 children. She loved word searches, crossword puzzles and card games. She challenged her sons to a nightly game and enjoyed the claims of victory or the good sported rivalry of promises of defeating them next time.
Survivors include her 3 daughters, Patricia Duval and her husband Leo, Beverly Ariagno and her husband Russell of Dartmouth, Kathleen Adams and her husband Donald of New Bedord. Seven sons; Steven, Kenneth, Robert and Brian Pereira of Dartmouth, Michael and his wife Sheila of Dartmouth, Jeffrey and his wife Roxana and Richard and his wife Robin of New Bedford. She is also survived by her son in law Steven Vieira of Dartmouth, 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a brother Frank Ramos of New Bedford and The Villages, Florida and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Cynthia Vieira and sister of the late Manuel Ramos, Mary Jorge and Deolinda Martins.
Mrs. Pereira’s funeral will be Friday at 8:45 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Julie Billiart Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
