Maria L. Demedeiros

Maria L. DeMedeiros, age 85, passed away on Monday, January 14 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio DeMedeiros. Maria was the loving mother of Dolores Medeiros and Carlos Medeiros, husband of Rosemary, both of New Bedford. Mrs. DeMedeiros was the sister of Maria Silva of New Bedford. She is also survived by her grandson Christopher Medeiros of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. DeMedeiros was the daughter of the late Elvira (Da Conceicao) and the late Jose Pacheco. She was born in Agua de Alto St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this country since 1966. Maria worked as a stitcher at Mickey Madan. Maria could always be found hanging around Building #19 in New Bedford. She would go there any chance she got to meet up with her friends, have a few laughs and do some shopping . She loved to knit and crochet but one her favorite things to do was go out to dinner with her family. Being around them brought her much joy. Mrs. DeMedeiros will be missed dearly by her family as her presence was a constant reminder of what it means to be a family.

The family of Maria DeMedeiros would like to thank the staff at Brandon Woods of New Bedford for the care they gave Maria during her residency at their facility.

Mrs. DeMedeiros’ funeral will be Thursday, at 8 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 9A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8P.M. Family and friends are invited.
