Acushnet – Maria dosAnjos deMedeiros, age 80, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, January 11 at her daughter’s home in Acushnet. She was the beloved wife of the late Armando V. deMedeiros who passed away on 9/20/2005. Maria was the loving mother of Joe deMedeiros husband of Angie and John Medeiros both of New Bedford; Maria Margarida Cabral wife of Carlos and Judith Madruga wife of John both of Dartmouth; and Adriana Fernandes wife of Luis of Acushnet. She was the sister of Dinor Pavao of New Bedford and the late Clotilde Pavao. Maria dosAnjos is also survived by her grandchildren Elizabeth Gillett, Christine Pacheco, Marlene Amaral, Christopher Fernandes, Victor Medeiros, Laurie Cabral, Marcie Gamelin, Monica Landis, Sarah Cabral, Matthew Madruga, Kaitlyn Madruga, Stephanie Medeiros, Bethany Fernandes, Ashley Medeiros, Sarah Madruga, Emma Madruga, Caroline Madruga, as well as 16 great-grandchildren; Austin and Cameron Amaral, Miranda Gillete, Rebecca, Ben and Luke Pacheco, Jordan, Julia, Jocelyn and Jenna Medeiros, Gabriella and Christopher Fernandes, Peter and Madeline Gamelin, Andrew Bourguignon, Aubrey Cabral-Kavgic and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. deMedeiros was the mother of the late Armando deMedeiros and grandmother of the late Michael Cabral.
Mrs. deMedeiros was the daughter of the late Maria (Cabral) and the late Manuel Jacinto Pavao. She was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area since 1967. Maria dosAnjos worked as a stitcher at Vanessa Corp. She was a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group of Mt. Carmel Church. Her family says she loved to talk. Talking to her family, talking on the phone, and after her health was in decline, her favorites words to speak were “Amor, Amor, Amor”. Her life had plenty of hardships, but Maria dosAnjos always found a way to smile through them. She was a blessed woman with the spirit of an angel. She will be missed by all that were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Mrs. deMedeiros’ funeral will be Monday, January 14th at 9:30 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church will be at 10:30A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
