Oak Bluffs – Alyce J. Sylvia, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 8 at Windemere Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late James Sylvia. Alyce was the loving mother of Melinda J. Sylvia of Martha’s Vineyard and Betty Jane Amaral of Dartmouth. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren: Jamie Sylvia and Lyndsey Amaral; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Sylvia was the grandmother of the late Christopher Sylvia and sister of the late John Joaquin, Elsie J. Ventura, Rose J. Rego, Dorothy Drouin, Mary Belli and Louise J. Campus.
Mrs. Sylvia was the daughter of the late Rose (daSilva) and the Antone J. Joaquin, Sr. She was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all her life. She was a member of the Panthers Golden Agers and St. Vincent of do Paul of St. John's Church
Mrs. Sylvia’s service will be Friday, January 11th at 12 noon at the Perry Funeral Home; 111 Dartmouth St. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home before her service from 11 A.M.-12 P.M. Family and friends are invited.
