Henrique Morais

Dartmouth – Henrique Morais, age 82 years, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Hilario) Morais. Henrique was the father of Lucia Wood wife of Thomas of Westport and Olinda Calheta. He was also the brother of Mavilde DaCosta and DeOlinda Dias both of New Bedford, and Quinhas Parada of Portugal. Mr. Morais had 5 grandchildren: Allison Wood, Kendra Bigos, Cristy Sousa, Dion Calheta, Thomas Wood IV as well as 6 great grandchildren. He had 4 Nieces and 3 Nephews and was also the brother of the late Lucia DaSilva and Joaquim Morais.

Mr. Morais was born in Vilar de Perdizes,Portugal son of the late Joaquina (Fonseca) and Joaquim Morais. He worked as a tailor at Anderson-Little for many years until his retirement. Henrique was a Captain in the Portuguese Army, soccer coach and treasurer of the Club Recordacoes De Portugal for many years. He loved to watch soccer and was an avid gardener.

Mr. Morais’ funeral will be Monday beginning at 8:45 at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in South Dartmouth at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at the South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Sunday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
