M Clara Grillo

New Bedford – M. Clara (Barros) Grillo, age 76, died on Friday, December 21 at St. Luke’s Hospital with her children and brothers by her side. Mrs. Grillo is the beloved widow of James T. Grillo who passed in 2001. Clara is survived by 3 loving children: J. Mark Grillo, Timothy J. Grillo and Andrea R. Grillo; all of Dartmouth. She was also survived by 4 grandchildren: Alyssa J. Grillo, Shauwna H. Grillo, Skyler A. Grillo and Rayanne H. Bagao. Mrs. Grillo has 2 siblings: John Phillip Barros and Paul Christopher Barros, both of Dartmouth.
Mrs. Grillo was born in Dartmouth, daughter of the late Mary Joseph (Alfonso) and the late John Barros. She worked as a teacher at Joseph DeMello School for 36 years before her retirement. Mrs. Grillo was a graduate of both Dartmouth High School and Salve Regina College. She was a member of the Dartmouth High School Alumni Association and a past member of the Dartmouth School Music Association.
Her funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday, January 4th at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church South Dartmouth at 10 A.M. Burial of her cremains will follow at South Dartmouth Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday January 3rd from 6-8 P.M.Relatives and friends are invited.
