Berta Melo

New Bedford – Berta Melo, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at home. She was the beloved wife of Gabriel Melo. Berta was the loving mother of Luis Melo husband of Sue of Dartmouth and Linda Baker wife of Scott of Virginia. Mrs. Melo was the grandmother of Paul Melo. She is also survived by her siblings; Maria Cordeiro, Eduarda Oliveira, Margaret Pragana, Assuncao Pacheco, Mario Amaral, Mozart Amaral and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Melo was the sister of the late Manuel Amaral, Jose Amaral, Antonio Rebello and Izeolinda Amaral.

Mrs. Melo was the daughter of the late Maria dosAnjos (Almeida) and the late Manuel Pacheco Amaral. She was born in St. Michael, Azores and has lived in this area since 1969. Berta worked as a seamstress at Justin Clothing.
Mrs. Melo’s funeral will be Saturday, December 22nd at 9 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St.. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 5-8 P.M. Family and friends are invited.
