Catherine Nichols, age 47, died Saturday, October 27 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Ma. She was the beloved daughter of the late Edith (Alcobia) and the late Anthony Nichols. Ms. Nichols was survived by her loving brother, Kenneth Nichols, husband of Tina, of Bridgewater and her two nephews James and Connor. Catherine was also survived by her long-time companion David Lepine of New Bedford and had several aunts and uncles.

Catherine loved the game of baseball and was the youngest female ever appointed as a GM of a Cape Cod baseball league team (Bourne Braves) She also enjoyed working in the yard, planting her garden and lazy days just laying on the beach. In recent years, she had taken up doing mosaic tile work making custom pieces of art for people across the country. She was also a member of Gallery X here in New Bedford where she enjoyed spending time with other artists and meeting new people. Born and raised in New Bedford she was a promoter of the city and always wanted people to enjoy everything that it has to offer. She was a caring “Auntie” always counted on for the most thoughtful gifts filled with family themes and creative projects for her nephews. She was a caring sister who worked diligently as matriarch to make sure all the family memories were preserved and passed on.

Ms. Nichols' funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday beginning at 9 A.M. with a Service at 10 A.M.followed by a burial at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
