Joao C. Amaral

New Bedford – Joao C. Amaral, age 76, died Monday, October 1, 2012 at home. He was the beloved husband of Maria I. (Silva) Amaral. Mr. Amaral was the loving father of Debra Lopes wife of Frederick of New Bedford and grandfather of Haven Lopes. He was the brother of Jose Amaral and Maria Sousa both of New Bedford. Joao is also survived by several nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He was father of the late Debra Amaral and brother of the late Dinis Amaral and the late Luiza Amaral.

Mr. Amaral was a son of the late Maria C. (Carreiro) and Laurenio Amaral. He was born in St. Michael, Açores and has lived in this country since 1955. Joao was employed as a Floor worker for the Kyler Seafood. He also worked for many years at Mickey Madann Pocket Book Factory.

Mr. Amaral’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
