Maria Cardoso

New Bedford – Maria Cardoso, age 95, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at home in New Bedford. She was the wife of the late Manuel Melo Cardoso. Maria was the loving mother of Gabriel Melo husband of Berta, Dinis Cardoso husband of Bernardete, David Cardoso husband of Olinda and Maria Rosario Guilbeault wife of Leonard all of New Bedford and also mother of the late Carlos Cardoso and the late Luis Cardoso. Mrs. Cardoso was the sister of the late Cecilia Oliveira and half-sister of Simao Oliveira and Evaristo Oliveira both of St. Michael, Açores. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cardoso was a daughter of the late Isabel (Amaral) and Miguel Bettencourt. She was born in St. Michael, Açores and has lived in this country since 1968. Maria was employed as an Inspector for the Cliftex Corporation.

Mrs. Cardoso’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Thursday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
