Jose Abreu, age 74, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving brother of Maria Olga Loveridge, wife of Walter, of Marstons Mills; Maria Inocencia Lanzoni, fiance of Gary Lemos, of Acushnet and John Abreu, husband of Carole, of Dartmouth. Jose is also survived by his loving companion Natalie Spooner, her family, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Abreu was the son of the late Eulalia (Brito) Abreu and the late Jose Abreu. He was born in Madeira Island, Portugal and has lived in this area since 1949. Jose was a prior driver for New England Components, a prior bus driver for Almeida Bus Lines and the Bonanza Bus Company from which he retired. Jose, also, was a volunteer bus driver for the Dartmouth Senior Center. Mr. Abreu was a member of Massachusetts National Guard who served for 13 years and was activated during the Berlin Crisis in 1961 and also was a member of the Madeira Feast Club.
At the request of Mr. Abreu’s family, his arrangements were private.
