Maria M. Sousa

Maria M. Sousa, age 76, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2012 at Brandon Woods Nursing Home of Dartmouth. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Sousa. Maria was the loving mother of Paul Sousa, husband of Susan, of Cromwell, CT. She was the sister of Manuel daCosta Melo, Maria de Lurdes Melo, Maria Dos Anjos Melo, Jose Melo all of Canada and Maria de Ispirito Santo Melo of St. Michael, Azores. Maria is also survived by her 3 grandchildren Abigail Sousa, Stephanie Sousa, and Nathan Sousa.

Mrs. Sousa was the daughter of the late Maria Dos Anjos (Costa) and the late Manuel Luiz DeMelo . She was born in St. Michael Azores and has lived in this area since 1966. Maria worked as a stitcher for many years.
Mrs. Sousa’s funeral services will be at Perry Funeral Home on Friday, September 21 beginning at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, September 20 from 5 – 8 P.M.
