Joao Porto

New Bedford- Joao Porto, 82 died on Monday morning, August 27th at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Alda (Raposo) Porto, Loved father of Victor and John Porto both of Dartmouth, Sam Porto of New Bedford, Steven Porto of Fairhaven, and Melanie Soares of Rochester. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 1 brother and several sisters, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Porto was the son of the late Mary and Arsenio Porto. He was born in St. Michael, Azores and has lived in this area since the early 60’s. He worked as a Laborer in the Construction Industry. Mr Porto was a member of the Stackhouse Club and the Soccer Club where he was the Treasurer.
Mr. Porto ’s funeral by the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. will be Friday at 8:45 A.M.,with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Church in Padanaram at 10 A.M. Burial will be at St. Johns Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5-8 P.M.
