NEW BEDFORD — William (Bill) Wunschel, 91, of New Bedford MA died unexpectedly on August 25, 2012 at St Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford MA He was the Husband of the late Bessie Francis (Cerwinski) Wunschel.
William has gone home to Dance with his beloved wife Bessie. Born in New Bedford, he was the Son of the late Frank A. Wunschel & Margaret E. McCue-Wunschel.
William lived in New Bedford all of his life. William proudly served in the US navy during WWII aboard the USS Tuscaloosa. After his time in the military, Bill worked at Berkshire Hathaway as a loom operator for many years until his retirement. Bill loved the ocean, boating, swimming, and traveling to various destinations. Bill was well known for his sense of humor and he will be missed by many.
Survivors include a sister Jane Czaban of New Bedford, a daughter Margaret E. Augustine of Elmira NY and a son William J. Wunschel and his wife Jessie of Seabrook NH; four grandchildren David J.Smale and his wife Heather and Angela Leblanc of New Bedford, Julie L. Coats and her husband Michael of Elmira NY, and William L. Wunschel of Las Vegas NV; Four great grandchildren Elizabeth Leblanc, Kiana Leblanc, and MaKenna Coats all of Elmira NY and Ethan J Smale of New Bedford, a Niece Peggie Czaban-Souza, a Son-in-law Andrew Nadolski, and His long time friend Charles Mederios and his wife Jackie all of New Bedford.
William was pre-deceased by his brother Frank Wunschel, a Step-Daughter Evelyn “Helen” Nadolski, and his grandson Kenneth T. Leblanc
Mr. Wunschel’s funeral services will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Friday from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon with the burial of his cremains to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. at 1:30 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
