Mary Soares

Fairhaven – Mary Soares, age 89, of Fairhaven formerly of New Bedford, passed away at Alden Court Nursing Care& Rehabilitation Center on Monday August 13, 2012. She was the loving mother of Phyllis Soares of Boston, Debra Soares, Dorothy Pina both of New Bedford and Georgette Lopes of Maryland. Mary was a sister of Dorothy Pina, Patricia "Tisha" Rose, Geraldine “Mummy" Gomes all of New Bedford, the late Eugene Pina, the late Pauline"Beverly" Pina, the late George Gomes and the late Edward Pina. Mrs. Soares is also survived by her grandchildren Chanel Soares, Chante Soares, Dawn-Cheri Soares, Lashawn Cortes, Alisha Duarte, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Soares was a daughter of the late Jennie (Pinto) Gomes-Pina and John Gomes. She was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all her life. Mary formerly worked in various local fish processing houses. She was a member of the Our Lady of Assumption Women's Club.

Mrs. Soares visiting hours will be at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, MA on Thursday, August 16 from 4-8 P.M. with a service to begin at 6:30 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers.
