Maria Jose (Demelo) Borges

New Bedford Maria Jose Raposo (deMelo) Borges, age 66 years, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at her residence in New Bedford surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Jose Raposo Borges. Mrs. Borges was the loving mother of Michael and Nelson Borges, both of New Bedford. She is survived by one grandson, Michael, Jr, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Borges is also survived by a brother, Antonio Eduardo Melo and his wife Kathy and a sister, Lena Teixeira and her husband Butch, both of Fall River.

Mrs. Borges was the daughter of the late Maria daConceicao (Raposo) and the late Jose Rebelo deMelo. She was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and has lived in this area since 1967. Maria worked as a cook at the Old Rochester High School cafeteria.

Funeral by the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St, New Bedford on Thursday, August 9th at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wednesday, August 8th from 5-8 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend
