Mary Santos

New Bedford – Mary “Mamie” Santos, age 87, died at St. Luke’s Hospital peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday July 10, 2012. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Charles M. Santos. Mrs. Santos was the loving mother of Richard C. Santos husband of Cheryl of New Bedford and Robert C. Santos husband of Jeannine F. of Fairhaven. She is also survived by her grandchildren Richard, Heidi, Michael, Robert, Jonathan, 11 Great Grandchildren and Several nieces and nephews. Mary was the sister of the late John Rego.
Mrs. Santos was born in New Bedford. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Costa) and John Rego. Mary worked as a nurse's aide at St. Luke’s Hospital. Mrs. Santos was a former Den Mother for the Mt. Carmel Boy Scouts and she also took care of many children.
Mary’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Saturday, July 14, at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 8:45 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
