Maria Demedeiros

New Bedford - Maria (Monte) DeMedeiros, 86, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at New Bedford Health Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel DeMedeiros. Maria was the loving mother of Antonio Medeiros of New Bedford, Goretti Medeiros of Wareham, Fatima Medeiros of Florida and Julie Amaral of Fairhaven. Mrs. DeMedeiros was the sister of Vasco Monte of Dartmouth, Gabriel Monte of Somerset, Aldina Camara, Juliette Monte and Honorina Medeiros all of Fall River. Maria is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeMedeiros was a daughter of the late Maria (Tavares) and Manuel Monte. She was born in St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since 1967. Maria worked as a stitcher at various textile mills.

Mrs. DeMedeiros’ funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Friday at 9:30A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, from 5-7 P.M.
