Edelmira Gerena

New Bedford – Edelmira Gerena, age 89 years, died Friday, June 1, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital. Ms. Gerena was the beloved mother of Janet Ramos and Gloria Ivette Ramos, both of New Bedford, Elsa Jimenez, Carmen Jimenez, Teresa Jimenez, Jose Ivan Jimenez, Grisel Jimenez, and Jose Angel Jimenez, all of Puerto Rico and Anderson Ramos of New Bedford and the late Mariana Jimenez and Leila Jimenez. Edelmira is also survived by several grand, great grand and great great grandchildren.

Ms. Gerena was the daughter of the late Carmen Gerena and Eusebio Irizarry. She was born in Puerto Rico and has lived in this area for 27 years. Edelmira was self-employed as a dress maker.

Ms. Gerena’s service is Monday at 10 A.M. at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, MA. Visiting hours will be Monday from 9-10 A .M.. Burial at Rural Cemetery.
