Sandra L. Carvalho

South Dartmouth- Sandra L. Carvalho, 65, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 22, 2012 at home after a period of declining health. She was surrounded by family, friends, and compassionate caregivers, Dana Cruz and Nicole Amarante. She was the daughter of the late Helen and Manuel Canastra. She was the beloved mother of the late Jessica Carvalho.
Born in Acushnet. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church South Dartmouth where she was a member of the Guild and taught ccd for many years. Sandra retired 10 years ago after working 35 years for the Massachusetts Highway Department. She was a member of the Darmouth Lion’s Club and the Daughter’s of Isabella Hyacinth Circle. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter, babysitting, knitting, playing cards with her girls on Wednesdays and spending time with her family and friends.
Sandra is survived by her daughter, her best friend, Lisa Carvalho of Dartmouth, her half sister Cynthia Stone and her husband Larry of Acushnet. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and godchildren.
Mrs. Carvalho’s funeral will be Thursday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., at 9:45 A.M with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St Mary’s Church, South Dartmouth at 11 A.M. Burial will follow at St. Johns Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
