Elsie Ponte

Elsie Ponte age 88, of Dartmouth, MA. passed away Saturday March 31, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George Lewis Ponte. The daughter of the late Manuel and Maria Oliveira, Elsie lived most of her life in Dartmouth, MA. and was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church Dartmouth, MA.
She was an outgoing person, loved traveling and being with her family and friends, playing bingo and being outside caring for God’s animals.
Elsie surviving family includes her son George Ponte and his wife Sharon of South Hampton, MA., daughter Geraldine Aylward and her husband John of Dartmouth, MA., three grandchildren Melissa La Rochelle and her husband Bob of Chicopee, MA., Stephanie Holmen and husband Victor of New Bedford, MA. and Max Ponte of Newport, RI. along with seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Elsie was the sister of Alice Raposa of New Bedford and the late Manuel Oliveira, Irene Santos and Mercedes Oliveira. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ponte’s funeral will be Wednesday at 9:45 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Padanaram at11 A.M., followed by her burial alongside her loving husband at Massachusetts National Cemetery. Bourne, MA. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 6 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
