Port Orange, FL. - Raymond G. “Skippy” Sylvia, Jr., 61, of Port Orange, Florida, a retired long distance truck driver, left this world on Thursday, March 15, 2012 while at home.
Mr. Sylvia was the son of the late Raymond G. Sylvia and Louise M. (Campos) Sylvia. "Skippy" was born and raised in New Bedford, and moved to Florida in 1999. He was a drum musician, who played locally during the 60's to 80's. He loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. He enjoyed spending time with family, and friends, riding his motorcycle and playing golf. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He is loved and survived by his wife, Christine A. (Trommenschlager) Sylvia; two sons, Raymond G. “Skip” Sylvia III of New Bedford and Thomas J. "TJ" Sylvia of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; daughter Nicole Viscovich of Scottsdale AZ.; his sister, Donna Pacheco of New Bedford; a granddaughter, Maegan Sylvia and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service and celebration of life on March 31, from 2-4 pm at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., New Bedford.
In Lieu of FLOWERS a donation may be made to the American Heart Association.
