Gilberto Dealmeida

New Bedford – Gilberto DeAlmeida, age 79 years, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at St. Lukes Hospital. He was the husband of Ana Q. (daSilva) DeAlmeida of New Bedford. Mr. DeAlmeida was the loved father of Gilbert Almeida of Acushnet, Steven DeAlmeida of Somerset and Ana Paula Vicente of New Bedford, loved grandfather of Brianne Almeida, Makayla Almeida, Steven DeAlmeida, Mariah DeAlmeida, Melissa Farias and Roy Vicente and loved great grandfather of Katia and Giovanni Farias. He is also survived by his sister Amelia Oliveira and his brother Augusto “Gus” DeAlmeida both of Portugal and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. DeAlmeida was a son of the late Mary Jane (Albino) and Augusto DeAlmeida. He was born in Villa do Espinahl, Portugal and has lived in this area since 1966. He was employed in the Housekeeping Dept. at St. Luke’s Hospital and was an electrician at Santa Maria Hospital in Portugal prior to moving to the New Bedford area.

Mr. DeAlmeida’s funeral will be Tuesday, at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at a time to be announced. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday evening from 6 – 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
