John M. Santos

New Bedford-John M. Santos age 79 years, who died Saturday February 18th, peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Maria C. (Silva) Santos of New Bedford. John was the loved father of Jose M. Santos of Portugal, Rui J, Santos of Tampa, FL. and Paula C. Freitas of Dartmouth. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Alexander and Jeffrey Santos, Isabella and Savannah Freitas and Barbara and Marta Santos, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Santos was a son of the late Isaura (Nascimento) and Jose Maria Afonso. He was born in Porto, Portugal and has lived here since 1971. He was employed by U Mass Medical School as a Technician, until his retirement.

Mr. Santos’ Funeral will be Wednesday, at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
