Alfred R. Matton

New Bedford- Alfred R. Matton, age 86, died Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Ora (Pappilon) Matton of New Bedford. Alfred was the loved father of Patricia Lawrence and her husband Peter of New Bedford, his stepchildren Robert G. Spicer and his wife Janet of New Bedford, William A. Spicer and his wife Kerri of Seekonk, Frederick Spicer and his companion Terry of New Bedford, Audrey Sylvia and her husband George of Dartmouth and Patricia Alphonse and her companion Jimmy of New Bedford. He was the brother of Rita Rist of Oregonand also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mr. Matton was a son of the late Lena (Bousquet) and Oscar Matton. He was born in Fall River. Alfred worked as a Claims Adjuster for Travelers Insurance and was also in auto body repair for many years and spent 35 years with the Auxillary Police as a Lieutenant. He also was an avid Boston Red Sox Fan.

Mr. Matton’s visiting hours with ashes present will be Thursday February 23 from 6-8 P.M. Religious Service will be celebrated during visiting hours at 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited. Funeral Service will take place Friday at 10 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St., followed by burial of ashes at Sacred Heart Cemetery # 2.
