Helen Martin Andrade

New Bedford- Helen Martin Andrade age 90 years died Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth Peacefully. Helen was the wife of the late John B. Andrade, Loved mother Marita Andrade of New Bedford and Jacqueline Barboza and her husband Victor of New Bedford. And her loved grandson Joseph P. Fortes Jr. of New Bedford. She is also survived by many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews . Helen was the sister of the late Pauline Vega, Jenny Pina, Rita Stevens, Alice Correia, Dorothy Barrows, Mae Rose, Margaret “Chickie” Fortes, and Rose Fernandes, Joseph Senna , Edward Martin, and Manuel Pinto.

Mrs. Andrade was the daughter of the late Maria Rita (Neves) and Joseph P. Martin. She was born in New Bedford and has lived in this area all her life. Helen worked at Nanfelt Seafood Co. until her retirement. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Assumption Church. Helen was a member of the Merchant Mariners Club, and United Social Club.

Mrs. Andrade’s funeral will be at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Saturday February 11, 2012 at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday from 5-8 P.M.
