James Sousa

NEW BEDFORD – James Sousa, 51, died Thursday, January 26 , 2012 after a long illness, at home with family by his side. He was the husband of Maria H. (Raposo) Sousa of New Bedford.
He was the loved father of Jeffrey, Stephanie and Jonathan Sousa all of New Bedford. James was the brother of Louis and Diane Sousa both of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Sousa was a son of the late Joseph M. and Judith M. (Tavares) Sousa. He was born in Fall River and lived in this area all of his life. Mr. Sousa was formerly employed at the Acushnet Company, Titleist Division. James did volunteer work at the church, enjoyed restoring a 1969 Ford Mustang and enjoyed doing woodworking projects for the Missionaries of Charity. Mr. Sousa also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Sousa’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., Monday at 8:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Kilian’s Church at 10 A.M. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery #2. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4 – 7 P.M. Relatives and Friends are invited.
