> New Bedford –Zulmira Joseph Pacheco, age 83 years old. Died Wednesday, January 18, 2012 St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was the cherish wife of the late Alfred J. Pacheco Jr. to whom she was married 58 years. They had a long lasting loving relationship where they shared their passion of watching sunsets and fireworks from the deck of the family summer cottage.
She is survived by her son Michael J. Pacheco, and his wife Christine of Litchfield, NH. and a daughter Cynthia A. Viera, and her husband Charles of New Bedford, MA. her grandson Nickolas J. Pacheco and granddaughter Caitlyn M. Pacheco. Two Goddaughters Deborah Medeiros Grenon and Nancy Sylvia Martin and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grandnephews and a great grandniece…….
Beloved daughter of Maria and Manuel J. Sylvia, sister of the late Mary S.Tavares and Arthur Sylvia. She spent her entire life residing in New Bedford and dedicated much of her life to service to this city. She was a salesclerk and model for Cherry and Webb, salesperson at Macedo’s Pharmacy, administrative secretary at Aerovox, and was the assistant director of the New Bedford Council on Aging for over twenty years until her retirement with the city. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.
She was a charter member of the Portuguese Educational Society.
She was a parishioner at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in New Bedford.
Mrs. Pacheco’s funeral will be Saturday at 7:45 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, at 8:45 A.M. A.M. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Friday from 4 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited
