New Bedford – Palmira Verissimo, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at home with family at her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose Verissimo. Palmira was the loved mother of Albertina Fernandes of Dartmouth, Guilherm Correia of New Bedford, Milu Silva of Portugal, Maria Botelho of New Bedford, Diamentina DaSilva of New Bedford, Jorge Verissimo of Dartmouth and Jose Verissimo of Dartmouth. Mrs. Verissimo is survived by 23 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Maria de Lourdes Pimtado of Portugal and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Verissimo was a daughter of the late Maria de Lourdes (Freitas) and Joao Luis Pimtado. She was born in Terceira, Açores and has lived here since 1969.
Mrs. Verissimo’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. Tuesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
