Lillian (Vargas) Tavares

New Bedford- Lillian (Vargas) Tavares, aged 89 years, died at Taber St. Nursing Center Thursday March 18, 2004. She was the widow of Alfred Tavares. She was the sister of Bertha Brown of New Bedford, and Helen Starr of South Dartmouth. She was the sister of the late Eva Plum, Mary Vargas, Grace Klein, Agnes Bissonette, Edward and Clarence Vargas, as well as several nieces and nephews, and God-children.

Mrs. Tavares was born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Vincent) Vargas. She worked as a stitcher in various local clothing Mfg. She was involved with the Friends of the Elderly of Dartmouth.

Her funeral will be Monday March 22, 2004, from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 9 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 230 Bonney St., New Bedford, MA. Visiting hour will be Monday morning only just prior to going to Church.
