Fairhaven – Maria C. Alcaidinho, age 84, died December 10, 2011 at Alden Court Nursing Care & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Alcaidinho was the wife of the late Jose Medeiros Alcaidinho of S. Dartmouth.
She was the mother of Mary, wife of James Mauricio of Dartmouth, Alda wife of Edmund Rosario formerly Freitas of New Bedford, Joseph Lewis, husband of Elaine Alcaidinho of Orlando, FL, Natalie, wife of David C. Arruda of Fairhaven, Leonore "Lee" wife of Robert Crews of Colorado and John Richard, husband of Debra Alcaidinho of Dartmouth. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Mrs. Alcaidinho was the sister of Joao Cabral of Montreal, Canada and the late Francisco Cabral.
Mrs. Alcaidinho was a daughter of the late Maria do Rosario (Eleuterio) and Jose G. Cabral. Maria was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area since 1960. She worked at N.E. Pleating and Stitching as a stitcher.
Mrs. Alcaidinho’s funeral will be Wednesday at 8:45 A.M. at Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Padanaram at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
