Edmund S. "Gramps" Avila

Kissimmee, Fla – Edmund S. "Gramps" Avila, age 90 years, died Friday, December 2, 2011 at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. He was the beloved husband of the late Georgianna (Carvalho) Avila. Edmund was the loved father of Edmund "Sonny" F. Avila and his wife Patricia of Dartmouth, Joyce deSousa of Fairhaven, Sandra Rego of Stuart, Fla., Robin Avila of Dartmouth and the late Robert Avila. He was the brother of Manuel S. Avila, Gilbert S. Avila and Tina Teixeira all of Dartmouth, Lena Almy of Fairhaven and the late Mildred Mello, John, Joseph and Frank Avila. He is also survived by a daughter in law Diane Maiolo of St Petersbutg, Florida.

Mr. Avila was born in Dartmouth and lived in this area all of his life. He was the son of Clara (Sylvia) and John Avila. Edmund was employed as a fisherman and was formerly the captain of a tuna boat .

Mr. Avila’s funeral will be at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. Thursday. Services at 10 A.M. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5 – 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.
