Fernanda N. Mendes

New Bedford – Fernanda N. Mendes, age 69 years, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at St Luke’s Hospital after a brief Illness. She was the beloved wife of Fernando C. Mendes of New Bedford. Mrs. Mendes was the loving mother of Jose C. Mendes and his wife Ana ,and Paul J. Mendes both of New Bedford, and Adelia N. Domingos and her husband Jose of Acushnet, loving grandmother of Katherine and Jacob Mendes and Lucas and Sofia Domingos, and her godchild Fatima Costa Nunes.

Mrs. Mendes was a daughter of the late Adelia (Nunes) and Remizio Henriques Bandeira. She was born in Funtao Fundeiro, Campelo, Figueiro Dos Vilhos, Portugal and moved to New Bedford in 1969. She worked at Frionor as an inspector until her retirement.

Mrs. Mendes’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
