Emerenciana Dejesus (Vieira) Caneira

New Bedford – Emerenciana deJesus (Vieira) Caneira, age 79, died Monday, October 31, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Caneira was the loving wife of Porfirio Caneira of New Bedford. Loved mother of Celeste DaSilva of Canada, Victor V. Caneira of S. Darmouth, and Antonio, Porfirio and Manuel Caneira all of New Bedford. Mrs. Caneira is also survived by her brother Manuel Vieira and her sister Maria Conceicao Henriques both of New Jersey, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Caneira was born in Murtosa, Portugal and lived in this area since 1966. She was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria de Ascencao (de Oliveira) Vieira. Mrs. Caneira was a seamstress with various local textile manufacturers.

Mrs. Caneira’s funeral will be Thursday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday evening from 5 - 8 P.M.
