Manuel B. Moniz

New Bedford – Manuel B. Moniz, age 72, died Friday, October 28, 2011 at home with his family by his side. Mr. Moniz was the loving husband of Maria dosAnjos (Cruz) Moniz of New Bedford for 48 years. Loved Father of Ann M. Borges and her husband Eduardo M., Carlos A. Moniz, Suzana F. Moniz, Joe F. Moniz, and Diane M. Miranda and her husband Brian M. He was the brother of Maria Natalia Borges, Jose Luis Couto, and Gil B. Couto. Mr Moniz is also survived by 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Moniz was born in Furnas, Sao Miguel, Azores and lived in this area since 1982. Manuel was a son of the late Natalia “Ines” (Borges) and Jose Moniz Couto. He was the proprietor of Moniz Fabrics for 27 years.

Mr. Moniz’ funeral will be Monday at the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. at 8:00 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Sunday evening from 4 - 8 P.M.
