Maria Jose Furtado Carepa Rodrigues

New Bedford – Maria Jose Furtado Carepa Rodrigues, age 94 years, died peacefully Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Savoy Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Medeiros Clara. Mrs. Rodrigues was the mother of Maria daConceicao Bento, wife of Gilberto, Maria deMissao Amaral, wife of Jose, and Luis A. Clara, husband of Angie all of Dartrmouth and Manuel Medeiros Clara, husband of Maria of Portugal. Maria is also survived by 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rodrigues is also pre deceased by several siblings.

Mrs. Rodrigues was a daughter of the late Mariana (Furtado) and Manuel Furtado Carepa. She was born in Furnas,St. Michael, Azores and lived in this area since 1971. She was a floor worker at Cameo Curtains.

Mrs. Rodrigues’ funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Wednesday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
