Deolinda (Rodrigues) Demelo

Fairhaven– Deolinda DeMelo age 80 years, died peacefully Thursday at Our Lady’s Haven. She was the beloved wife of Jose DeMelo of Dartmouth. Loving Mother of Michael Mello and his wife Carol of Acushnet, Edward DeMelo of FL., Brenda Viera and her husband Jeffrey of Fairhaven and Melanie Hayes and her husband Jeffrey of FL. Deolinda was the sister of Maria da Gloria Rodrigues of Fairhaven, Etelvina Farias of New Bedford, Anna Arruda of SC., Francisco Rodrigues of Dartmouth and the late Manuel and Jose Rodrigues. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeMelo was a daughter of the late Anibal and Maria Deolinda (Arruda) Rodrigues. She was born in St. Michael Azores and has lived in this area since 1957. She was a seamstress at Kay Windsor until her retirement.

Mrs. DeMelo’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Monday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
