New Bedford - Maria da Luz Jácome Carreiro Delgado passed away to eternal life in the presence of her five children, Grace, John, Joseph, Raimundo, Marylou and grandchildren at St. Luke’s hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel RC Delgado.
Born in Livramento, São Miguel, Açores, Mrs. Delgado emigrated from her beloved city of Ponta Delgada to New Bedford on December 12, 1968.
Mrs. Delgado was a lady who touched all who came in contact with her. She was very giving. She lived for her family and had great devotion to Our Lady of Fátima, O Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres and her catholic faith. She was most happy when cooking regularly for all her large family, visiting her beloved island of São Miguel and talking about her memories back in the island of her birth.
Mrs. Delgado is survived by her children, Grace Delgado, John Delgado husband of Fatima, Joseph Delgado husband of Isabel, Raimundo Delgado husband of Meralie and Marylou Delgado. Grandchildren Shawn, his wife Cristina Delgado, Jason and his wife Courtney, Michelle and her husband Michael, Laura and Andy Delgado. Great grandchildren Celeste, Asa, Samantha, Aiden and godchildren Paula, Ana, John and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Delgado is also survived by sister Bianor Travasssos, of Dartmouth, Judith Carreiro and António Jácome of Ontario Canada. John, her brother and Jorgina of Canada, predeceased her.
Family and friends are invited to meet directly at St. Julie Billiart Church for a Catholic High Mass at 10:00 A.M. on Friday. Visiting hours are omitted.
