Thomas L. Stenson

New Bedford- Thomas L. Stenson, age 78 years, died Thursday, October 6, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Bernice M. (Gracie) Stenson of New Bedford. He was the loved father of Nancy Leonard and her companion Jay Clay and grandson Bradford Raphael all of New Bedford, stepfather of Jeffrey W. Sylvia of TX, Debra-Ann Raymond and her husband Richard of Assonet, Eric Paul Pedro of New Bedford. He was the loving grandfather of Michael Raymond and his wife Stephanie of CA and Kevin Raymond of Assonet and great grandfather of Samantha of CA and Olivia of Assonet. Thomas was the brother of Rita Cabral and her husband Lionel and Shirley Ventura all of New Bedford and the late Eleanor Souza He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stenson was a son of the late Thomas and Rose (Rodrick) Stenson. He was born and raised in New Bedford. Tom worked at Service News and retired from Cape News. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Tom was Past Commander of The American Legion Post #1 New Bedford, Forty& Eight Voyager #577 also Past Commander Club of CA. He enjoyed all sports; he was an avid Detroit Tigers Fan and Post #1 American Legion Baseball.

Mr. Stenson’s Funeral will be Monday at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. at 8 A.M. Burial will follow with military honors at Massachusetts National Cemetery Bourne MA. at 9:30 A.M... Visiting hours will be Sunday from 5-8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Seaman’s Bethel in New Bedford.
